Children between the ages of three and 10-years-old are learning what it takes to be a helpful member of the community by taking part in the ‘Boo Squad.’ The Boo Squad is a Fund under the umbrella of the Anthony V Spano Foundation, which is a non profit 501 c 3 organization that supports these individuals and groups for the passion of there cause.
Wednesday night, 10 outstanding kids were honored for their volunteer work at the Embassy in Struthers.
The Boo Squad is a group for children to join to help out their community. It was founded three years ago.
The kids participate in various things to teach them the importance of compassion and acceptance.
Children who take part in the Boo Squad help host fundraisers throughout the year to raise money to help those in need.
“I hope if anything they’ve taken away from tonight, it’s to be kind to their neighbors, to help others, if they see someone that’s different from them just go up to them and say hello. Tonight wasn’t about how much money we raised it was truly to inspire these kids to get involved in their community,” said Heather Hrina-Medvec, Boo Squad director.
