The Spano Foundation is honored to introduce the Rose Carter Community Fund, a philanthropic initiative committed to empowering and enriching local communities. Through strategic donations, meaningful partnerships, and dedicated support, this fund aims to address critical needs, promote sustainable growth, and improve the well-being of individuals and families, ensuring every contribution creates a lasting impact.
The Rose Carter Community Fund is founded on the principle that meaningful change is best achieved through collective action. By investing in initiatives that foster equity, empowerment, and progress, the fund aims to create a lasting legacy of compassion and resilience.

The fund honors the remarkable legacy of Rosetta “Rose” Carter, a lifelong advocate for community empowerment. Rose, an 80-year-old trailblazer in faith-based activism, has dedicated her life to service, from a 23-year career in banking to leading A.C.T.I.O.N., a faith-driven advocacy group. Her tireless efforts have led to fair housing initiatives, consumer protection against predatory lending, and providing the necessary resources for the community. Reflecting on this milestone, Rose Carter stated, “my life’s work has been about service, faith, and community involvement to make the community a better place. To see this fund created in my name is a blessing, but more importantly, it’s a promise to continue uplifting those in need.”
The Rose Carter Community Fund will carry forward her unwavering commitment to social change, driving progress and empowerment in Youngstown and beyond for generations to come.
