For the fourth year in a row, the Boo Squad Fund has made it their mission to help families with Thanksgiving meals. “Many families have members who have been laid off from work and are struggling because of Covid-19,” stated Dr. Heather Hrina-Medvec, Boo Squad director. “The goal of this mission is to teach our youth to be thankful. Thankful for many day-to-day needs that we all take for granted.” The Boo Squad is a volunteer group for children ages 7-13. The Boo Squad teaches our children about teamwork, volunteerism, and compassion.
Teaching our children the importance of giving back to those who just need a little bit of help will stay with the children for a lifetime. We are so proud of our children and all the hard work they did!

For 2020, our goal, once again, was to be able to feed 100 families in need. We are so happy to announce that on November 22, 2020, because of the generous donations from organizations such as Toyota of Boardman, Chic Chateau, HD Davis, Holy Family and all the other donations we received, we were able to feed 210 families this year as well as supply them with much-needed household supplies. The families included those from South Range, Springfield, Lowellville, Poland, Struthers, Boardman, Campbell, Girard, Youngstown, The Purple Cat, The Beatitude House, several law enforcement families in need, and Ohio Living’s Wellness Program. We were even able to help change a flat tire of one of the families who waited in line.
