Coach Dave Konczal: Inspiring Dreams Through Books and Basketball

Coach Dave Konczal, a retired Hubbard teacher with 30 years of experience and nearly six years as a professor at Eastern Gateway Community College, has dedicated his life to education and basketball. As a head girls’ basketball coach at several Ohio high schools, he’s seen how sports and academics can shape young lives.

In 2018, Coach Konczal founded Books & Basketball of Ohio, Inc. after witnessing the challenges underprivileged youth face in accessing sports opportunities. His program combines tutoring and basketball to teach cooperation, teamwork, and the importance of education as a foundation for future success.

By providing academic support, Books & Basketball ensures kids can pursue their passion for sports, even if they can’t afford the high costs. Funds raised go toward tutoring and sustaining the program, creating lifelong benefits for these young athletes.
